During pregnancy, diagnosing diabetes is known as Gestational Diabetes. This Gestational Diabetes happens in about 8percent of all pregnancies. It basically appears in the second half of the pregnancy and disappears as soon as the child is born. gestational diabetes, you should give special care to what you eat. When you have diabetes, you should eat a variety of healthy food and work with a dietician, and also avoided the unsafe food and unhealthy drinks will help you to be healthy and safe for yourself and your baby.

The first and most important step is to treat your gestational diabetes is to change your diet plan to help keep your blood sugar level in the standard range while still consumption a healthy food diet. If you a well-controlled blood sugar on your body, then you can deliver babies without any complication. 

To keep your blood sugar levels in the standard range, you should monitor the number of carbohydrates in your diet. If you consume carbohydrate foods on a regular basis, it will turn into blood glucose. Having a good level of glucose in the blood is essential because it is the energy drink for your body and nutrition your baby receives from you. However, it is notable that glucose should be within the target in your body.

Make a Plan

A good dietician can help you come up with a perfect diet meal plan with the good nutrients that will work with your lifestyle. Making a plan and eating healthy food every day can help you to keep your blood sugar from getting too low or too high.

Also, remember one thing eating for two doesn’t mean you have to eat more food every day. You only need to consume 350 more calories every day when you’re pregnant. You should focus on choosing foods that are more nutritious instead of just eating more food.

What to Eat

You can apply all the rules of a good diet plan during your pregnancy. Select a balanced mix of fruits, vegetables, meats, healthy fats, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products to get all the nutrients you need. Moreover, you have to make a plan on how to control your blood sugar throughout the day. A simple and good way is to follow a regular diet plan for three meals and three snacks.

Every day try to take at least one serving of carbohydrates and one serving of protein. You can include Eggs, Cheese, Beans, Tofu, Lean meat or fish, nuts, and nut butter under the protein category. Carbohydrates foods include Fruit, Dairy products, such as milk and yogurt, Starches, like bread, cooked or dry cereal, rice, pasta, popcorn, and pretzels.

What to Skip

Do not drink alcohol and don’t smoke. It brings the odds of miscarriage and fetal alcohol disorder. 

Try to avoid foods that would be unsafe during pregnancy. And don’t eat high-mercury fish like swordfish, and raw seafood, like oysters or sushi. 

Don’t consume more than 250 milligrams of caffeine a day, also ask your doctor before taking any herbal teas which don’t have caffeine because some of them affect growing babies.

Try to consume only a small amount of sweets and desserts. They add carbohydrates without nutrients and can prickle your blood sugar.
